Cygnet Family Practice is a caring, integrated, holistic primary health care service which aims to provide the best possible care in partnership with our patients, our employees, our community and our environment.
Carl and Linda Childs van Wijk recognised that Cygnet Family Practice had a unique form of healthcare – kind and holistic and ‘nothing like we had experienced before”.
When the practice needed new ownership, they offered support by a generous philanthropic arrangement. At the same time, Kerrie Duggan, Nurse Practitioner, was working in the practice. She had always dreamed of working in a practice which provided a nursing model providing preventative health care and health promotion, in collaboration with doctors whose philosophy aligned with hers. Together with the Childs van Wijks, Kerrie shares ownership of Cygnet Family Practice and has provided leadership in growing the practice to now provide a choice of nursing and medical services to Cygnet, the surrounding area, and the wider Huon Valley region.
"When holistic care is provided, thought is given to tomorrow’s problems, as well as today's. In this way we can see that today’s treatment becomes the way to help prevent the next problem of aging or illness that we might experience."
